Rhino Horn Junior
Rhino Horn Junior is a Neti Pot specially made for children at the age of 4–12 years. Junior is 2/3 in size to fit in a child’s hand and has a smaller and longer tip suitable for a child’s nostril.
Our Junior version has been inspired by paediatric doctors at hospitals in France, Holland and Sweden seeing the huge benefits for their patients using Rhino Horn. That is why they encouraged us to make a kids’ version of Rhino Horn.
Agreeable to Use Rhino Horn Junior
The isotonic salt water of body temperature is very agreeable, refreshing and mild in your nose. Soon you will love the fresh and clean feeling after using Rhino Horn Junior.
Why Use Rhino Horn Junior
The use of Rhino Horn is alleviating ordinary nuisances of a clogged nose, e.g. from having a cold. Mucus is removed and the swollenness of the mucus membranes is relaxed.
Rhino Horn is likely to become a good friend for people suffering from asthma or respiratory allergy of pollen or dust. The use of Rhino Horn is an effective treatment of occasional sinusitis and even an important assistant at chronic sinusitis. Nasal saline irrigation is mandatory after nasal surgery.
Even severe respiratory illnesses like cystic fibrosis, COPD or ciliary dyskinesia are known to be much alleviated by the use of Rhino Horn. Doctors report a reduction in the frequency of middle ear inflammation in children.
Most people like taking a shower simply because it gives a nice refreshed feeling of wakefulness and alertness. An inner shower with Rhino Horn has a similar effect.
User Instructions for Rhino Horn
Prepare a saline solution by filling the Rhino Horn with a Rhino Spoon of ordinary kitchen salt or sea salt (NaCl) and body temperature water (37° C / 98.6° F).Close the openings of the Rhino Horn™ with your palm/finger and shake it a few times to dissolve the salt.
If there are concerns about water quality, boil the water for one minute and then let it cool to body temperature. If the tap water is safe, you may use it directly from the warm tap.
Cold water and fresh water irritates the mucous membranes. Therefore the water used for nasal cleansing should be somewhat salty and it should be at about body temperature. The body fluids contain 0.9 % salt so the measuring spoon contains 2.7 g fine cooking salt or sea salt to the 3 dl water in Rhino Horn.
Rinsing the Nose
To use the Rhino Horn, tilt your head sideways over the sink and from the side gently place the spout into the upper nostril. Start with your less congested nostril. Breathing normally through your open mouth, pour the saline solution into your upper nostril, and if the angle of the head is correct, the water will drain directly through the lower nostril.
Do not stick your chin out; keep it tucked in towards your chest. Otherwise, the water will run back from the nasal cavity into your throat. Repeat on the other side.
When approximately half the water in the Rhino Horn has run through your nose, remove it. You may empty your nose from water and mucus by closing one nostril and blow GENTLY through the open nostril. If you hear any noise like popping in your ear, you have blown too hard.
Repeat on the other side.
Empty Your Nose
When you have finished pouring water through your nose from both sides, you must make sure to empty your nose. To clear any remaining water or mucus from your nose and sinuses, bend forward to get the top of your head down; look to the side, close the lower nostril and gently blow into a tissue through the open nostril.
Be careful not to blow so hard that your ears pop. If you hear any noise lin your ears, you have blown too hard. This is important to avoid unpleasant over pressure in your ears afterward.
Repeat on the other side. Do this a few times.
Cleaning the Rhino Horn
After each use, Rhino Horn should be rinsed out and left to air-dry. Virus and bacteria do not survive long on a dry plastic surface. After drying the only virus and bacteria on the Rhino Horn will be those that are already in the air we breathe.
Ear nose and throat doctors recommend you to look upon a Rhino Horn as a personal device – just like a toothbrush.
Rhino Horn may be washed in a dishwasher and may even be cleaned in boiling water for a few minutes. The Rhino Horn may also be in a microwave oven for several minutes without getting damaged.
Washing in a dishwasher or boiling is necessary only if two persons are using the same Rhino Horn right after one another. Normally air-drying is enough.
Am I Doing Something Wrong?
Problem: The water is not running through the nostrils
Solution: There may be two reasons:
a The nose is stuffed / clogged because the mucous membranes are swollen. You cannot breathe through one or both nostrils and therefore water will not run through.
The warm salt water has a relaxing effect on the mucous membranes and can open up a clogged nose. Let the water remain in the nostril for about 5 seconds, then pour from the other side and let the water remain in the nose for a while. Repeat from side to side until the water begins to run through – slowly in the beginning, but more freely after some time.
b You may be holding Rhino Horn at an angle, pressing the tip into the wall of the nose and stopping water from entering the nostril.
Problem: Water runs down your the mouth and throat.
Solution: Your chin may be too far out. Tuck your chin closer to your chest. This stops water from running back into your throat.
Problem: It is unpleasant
Solution: If there is too little salt in the water, it creates pressure. If there is too much salt or the water is too cold, it stings. The water is not too warm, is it?
Recommended by Ear, Nose and Throat Doctors
Exaggerated use of nasal spray is harmful to the mucous membranes. It may create an enhanced tendency for the mucous membranes to get swollen. Saltwater has a natural relaxing effect on the mucous membranes and makes them more resistant to virus and bacteria.Warm saltwater also stimulates the natural purification mechanism of the respiratory system. It increases the removal of mucus and particles from the lungs.

How Often Can I Use Rhino Horn?
Rhino Horn may be used daily if desired. In special situations – e.g. in the case of high pollen counts that you are reacting to or if you are suffering from a cold or severe sinusitis – nasal cleansing may be practised several times a day.
Normally, used for regular hygiene, preventative measures and for general well-being, once a day is sufficient.
